The CDC began closely monitoring an outbreak caused by a novel coronavirus strain first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019, which quickly spread to southeast Asia, Europe, Canada and the U.S. 

The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic on Mar. 11, 2020.

The spread of COVID-19 has led to closed schools and businesses, quarantines in first responders and changes in reimbursement and service delivery response
