NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y.— The driver of a car that rolled over Wednesday afternoon on the westbound Northern State Parkway and ended up among the trees escaped with “just minor injuries,” State Police said.
However, the one-car accident just west of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway spawned another minor mishap between a fire truck and ambulance that were sent to assist.
Perhaps due to the heavy rain, the incline on the muddy shoulder proved too much for the fire truck.
“It got stuck in the mud, just leaned over to one side and just made contact with the ambulance,” said Jack Lord, communications supervisor for the Syosset Fire Department.
Nassau County police deployed a hazmat vehicle to extract the truck, a police spokeswoman said.
“The ambulance and the truck have been removed from the mud and both units are back in service,” Lord said.
