The dump truck pulled in front of the ambulance while attempting to use a crossover, killing EMT Jacob Bozeman

KING AND QUEEN COUNTY, Va. — A Virginia EMT was killed when a dump truck collided with an ambulance, according to Virginia State Police.

State police said the crash happened on March 20 when the dump truck attempted to use a crossover and pulled in front of the ambulance on Route 360. At the time of the crash, the VCU Health Tappahannock ambulance operated by two AMR employees was not responding to a call and was not carrying a patient, WTVR reports.

The EMT, identified as Jacob Bozeman, died at the scene.

Authorities said Paramedic Christopher Mack, who was also in the ambulance, was taken to the hospital. The dump truck driver was also transported for treatment.

The Tappahannock-Essex Volunteer Fire Department said Bozeman was scheduled to start firefighter training in April.

The crash remains under investigation.
