Mo. ambulance fire causes $500K in damage

An electrical spark caused an ambulance in the station garage to go up in flames, and it spread to a second ambulance next to it

MERRIAM WOODS, Mo. — An early-morning fire an ambulance station caused destroyed two vehicles, and caused nearly $500,000 worth of damage.

An electrical spark near the battery caused the first ambulance to go up in flames, which then ignited a second ambulance that was sitting beside it in the Taney County Ambulance District station garage, firefighters told Ozarks First.

“It kind of makes me sick to my stomach,” said TCAD Deputy Chief Jeff Hawkins. The district just put the second ambulance on the street, and the loss comes just in time for tourist season.
