One bus passenger was pinned in the wreckage and required an extensive extrication operation, the Houston Fire Department said.

“Our Rescue team used just about every tool they had to free her from the bus,” HFD said in a statement. Her injuries were described as serious.

Thirteen bus passengers were transported to local hospitals for medical evaluation, while the bus driver did not require evaluation, officials said.

The driver of the other vehicle was in critical condition as of the latest update.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
