CROSS CITY, Fla. — Dixie County Fire Rescue is rallying around one of its own after EMT Anne “Bambi” Roberson was diagnosed with breast cancer.

In a show of solidarity, Roberson’s colleagues shaved their heads on Dec. 5 to support her, calling her a devoted member of the Dixie County fire family and vowing to stand by her side throughout her treatment, WCJB reported.

In a Facebook post, the department said Roberson, a nearly 20-year veteran of the department, had been diagnosed with breast cancer and is facing treatment with the same strength and courage she brings to the job.

Calling her part of their fire family, leaders say Roberson will not face the battle alone, with the entire department standing behind her in support.

Dixie County residents are joining the effort with a fundraiser for her and her family scheduled for Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
