PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — A man was shot and killed on a stretcher as paramedics loaded him into an ambulance early Monday morning.
Provincial health spokeswoman Sizwe Kupelo said two paramedics responded to a call at 4 a.m. for a man who had been shot, News24 and iafrica.com report.
“The paramedics were busy putting the man into the ambulance when the alleged gunman returned and opened fire on all three of them,” Kupelo told News24.
The two medics were not hurt, but the wounded man was killed.
This is the third incident in less than a month where paramedics have been affected by a crime in the Port Elizabeth area, Kupelo said.
