TUCSON, Ariz. — A 69-year-old woman fell about 100 feet into a canyon in southern Arizona, was injured and had to stay there overnight before a man scouting locations to hunt deer spotted her, and a rescue helicopter eventually lifted her out.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office says Margret Brummer was found after a man returned to Box Canyon near Tucson on Sunday, a day after he first noticed a parked car there.
The man called authorities after hearing calls for help and seeing the woman approximately 100 feet below.
Search and rescue personnel responded, and a helicopter lifted Brummer out of the canyon.
Deputy Tracy Suitt says the Green Valley resident apparently slipped before tumbling down a very steep slope.
Brummer was listed in stable condition Monday at a Tucson hospital.
