OKLAHOMA CITY — Firefighters were caught on camera comforting a boy, 5, while his mom was being treated by paramedics.

First responders were called to a medical emergency scene at a local diner, Oklahoma’s News 4 reports. Fire Cpl. Tyler Griffits and Firefighter Doug Cross said that after paramedics began attending to the boy’s mother, they distracted him by giving him a tour of the fire truck and letting him play with the water hose.

“He was obviously a little bit shaken from that,” said Oklahoma City Fire Cpl. Tyler Griffits.

Griffits and Cross said that they try to comfort those in need when they can.

“It’s one of the best parts of the job,” Griffits said. “It was a lot of fun. I’m glad to see he had as much fun as we did.”
