WEST FORT WORTH, Texas — MedStar ambulance service has moved into a new multimillion-dollar headquarters in West Fort Worth.

The new $9.8 million building is 85,239 square feet and sits on 10 acres on Alta Mere Drive, just south of Interstate 30. Its old headquarters, on Berry Drive, was just 28,000 square feet.

MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said the new facility will benefit the community. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held this afternoon.

“We are committed to our community and our staff,” Zavadsky said. “This new facility is for them.”

The new facility, on the site of a former Nissan dealership, will expand MedStar’s call center to meet the rising number of 911 emergency calls and MedStar’s healthcare mobile services.

MedStar was established in 1986, according to its website. They provide advanced life support ambulance service to more than 880,000 residents spread over more than 400 square miles in Tarrant County.

The service responds to about 117,000 calls a year with a fleet of 54 ambulances.
