Fla. medic arrested for stealing narcotics from ambulance

The 10-year paramedic told police he stole two vials of Dilaudid with the intention of killing himself

NAPLES, Fla. — A Collier County paramedic told police he stole Dilaudid from an ambulance to kill himself.

Andrew Seager, 34, is on unpaid leave, facing grand theft charges, Wink News reported.

Seager has worked for Collier County EMS for 10 years. Last February he was investigated into the tampering of two Dilaudid vials, but was allowed to continue working because his drug tests came back negative.

Jan. 11, he allegedly stole two vials of the same drug from the ambulance he was assigned to. He later admitted to police to taking the vials, and told them he planned to kill himself with the drug. He then changed his mind and destroyed the vials.

After the first incident, the EMS agency placed a tamper-evident seal on the medications.
