NEW YORK — An incident involving hazardous materials in Rossville resulted in minor injuries for two EMS workers and a civilian on Tuesday morning.
The incident was reported at 9:13 a.m. at a strip mall on the 600 block of Rossville Avenue near Woodrow Road, according to a spokesman for the FDNY /EMS.
The two EMS workers were transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Prince’s Bay, according to the FDNY /EMS spokesman.
The FDNY remained at the scene more than two hours later.
A person was exposed to an undisclosed chemical at the scene, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.
Firefighters spread caution tape across the front of businesses at that location.
Vehicles for Hazardous Materials and other units were parked along Rossville Avenue as part of a large FDNY response.
Firefighters set up fans in and around the businesses.
