VIRGINIA, Minn. — When you see lights and hear sirens from an ambulance, you immediately think someone needs medical help.
“Depending on the day, we do an average of 9-10 runs,” Mike Ruedebusch told us. He’s the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for the Virginia Fire Department.
But not all calls are for heart attacks or strokes or car crashes. For example, Virginia paramedics spent countless hours and miles on mental health transfers, bringing a patient from an emergency room to a hospital that can help him or her.
