MEMPHIS — A man died Saturday night after he jumped out of a moving ambulance and was hit by another vehicle on the freeway.
Police said the 37-year-old patient removed his gurney restraints, flung the back of the ambulance door open and jumped out. He was struck by Warren Ricks, 39, who was arrested and charged with a DUI, reported USA Today.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they noticed Ricks had bloodshot eyes and smelled of intoxicants. He was driving on a revoked license, had no car insurance and had outstanding warrants for his arrest.
The name of the victim has not been released.
