Md. Shock Trauma GO TEAM responds to Baltimore bus crash

Firefighters, medics and special operations units responded to a bus crash, with one patient requiring a complex extrication

BALTIMORE — Eight people were taken to area hospitals early Thursday after a crash involving two cars and an MTA bus near East Preston and St. Paul streets in Baltimore, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

Fire officials said crews were called to the scene at 100 E. Preston St. shortly before 1:15 a.m. after receiving a 911 report of a collision involving the three vehicles.

The injuries ranged from very serious to minor, the department said.

The University of Maryland Medical Center’s Shock Trauma Go Team, including trauma physicians and other specialists, responded to the scene. Baltimore fire officials also deployed the department’s Special Operations Command team, which carried out a complex extrication involving one of the vehicles.

Authorities urged motorists to avoid the area of East Preston Street and St. Paul Street while emergency crews remained on scene.
