NREMT to provide alternative testing options following closure of Pearson VUE centers
The National Registry of EMTs responds to Pearson Vue's suspension of operations due to COVID-19, assures solutions are in the works
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Following the National Registry of EMTs' announcement last week that the current recertification cycle for Nationally Registered EMS personnel would be extended and modified in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pearson VUE — one of the organization's testing partners — made its own emergency announcement.
Starting today, Tuesday, March 17, all Pearson VUE testing centers in the U.S. and Canada will be closed until further notice, a move that directly impacts all National Registry examinations delivered by the company.
"These are unprecedented times," NREMT said in a statement. "As the Nation’s EMS Certification organization, we recognize the thousands of providers on the path to EMS service. We are finalizing potential solutions and will be sharing additional details in the coming days. We remain committed to supporting the vital work that you do."
Candidates and registrants with pending applications need take no additional action at this time. More details will be provided as they become available.
