OMAHA, Neb. — A man being transported for issues with a racing heart was instantly stabilized after the ambulance hit a pothole.
Fox News reported that the man’s heart was reaching 200 bpm during the 20-minute ride to the hospital when the ambulance hit a large pothole which converted it to a normal rhythm.
Nebraska Medicine’s Dr. Andrew Goldsweig said that, while rare, it can happen.
“One way to threat [a racing heart] is with an electrical shock,” he said. “Classically, you’ll see it on television. The paddles, ‘clear,’ and a big jolt. Turns out, you can do that with a pothole.”
