NEW CASTLE COUNTY, Del. — New Castle County EMS has repurposed a former frontline emergency vehicle into a mobile community outreach unit aimed at supporting public education and recruitment efforts.
The vehicle that was once used to respond to 911 calls, is now operated by the agency’s Community Outreach Team to promote initiatives including recruitment, PulsePoint, Smart911 and Hands-Only CPR.
In a social media post, the department said the truck has streamlined the department’s outreach operations by serving as an all-in-one resource for public events. Before the vehicle was reassigned, staff had to gather tables, tents, CPR mannequins, equipment and informational materials from storage and load them into a separate vehicle for each event.
Now, personnel to report to work, pick up the vehicle and head directly to community events.
Officials said the change has improved efficiency while making better use of an existing resource.
