BALTIMORE — Four children are in serious condition after being rescued from a rowhouse fire in the Madison-Eastend neighborhood of East Baltimore on Friday morning, fire officials said.
The children — a 12-year-old girl, an 8-year-old girl, and two 6-year-old-boys — were taken to the John Hopkins Children’s Center for treatment.
The children were rescued after firefighters arrived at the 2900 block of E. Monument St. shortly after 5 a.m. this morning and saw smoke coming out from the second floor, and fire on the first floor, according to Blair Adams, spokesperson for the Baltimore City Fire Department.
Firefighters also saved two dogs in the basement, Adams said.
The fire was under control shortly after 5:30 a.m., and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Adams.
