OREGON CITY, Ore. — A witness to the Sunday shooting that killed an Oregon City Reserve officer says he’ll never forget what he saw on Sunday.

“I saw the officer get shot,” he told KOIN 6 News Tuesday. “Obviously it was disturbing.” Josh Wenzel said he heard the shots and saw Officer Robert Libke lying in the street, wounded, for more than an hour. It was only after that hour the paramedics were able to take Libke away from the scene.

“I could see him, he laid there for 20 to 30 minutes, at which point we were evacuated,” Wenzel said. “And then another 30 minutes to an hour before I saw the ambulance.” Wenzel lives across the street from where suspect Lawrence Cambra’s home caught fire on Sunday. He ran over to see if his neighbor needed help getting out.
