ROCKFORD, Ill. — A local paramedic is going beyond the call by making blankets for fire victims.
Paramedic Karsyn Nehls said a March 10 apartment fire deeply impacted her. The blaze left one dead and several homeless.
“I was actually the second ambulance on scene,” Nehls told WIFR. “It just … it hit home for me. Kids are never easy to deal with.”
Nehls said she used her longtime hobby of making blankets to help children affected by the fire.
“I wanted to do something to make their day a little bit better,” Nehls said.
