OCEAN VIEW, Del. — Naloxone, the heroin fighting drug known as Narcan, can save lives, according to Ocean View Police Chief Ken McLaughlin. And he said 2015 has been proof.
Since the police agencies of Ocean View, Middletown, and New Castle County have started using the drug, they’ve saved 10 lives in Delaware. The medication has proven highly successful at reversing heroin overdoses.
The problem though, according to McLaughlin, has been cost. He said this is part of the reason why only three agencies are using it in the entire state.
