NEDERLAND, Texas — After a dispatcher died Dec. 9, colleagues recall the impact she had on the communications center.

Caron Wind, 57, died of an unknown illness at her home; she served as a paramedic for 30 years before working as a dispatcher for 10 years.

“She is just a wonderful ray of light. Very knowledgeable,” dispatcher Barbi Stuart told 12 News Now. “She was very good at her job and she took pride at what she did.”

Many said whenever Wind’s voice was heard over the radio, responders know exactly who it was.

“She was a go-getter. She knew her job and did it very well,” Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush said.

A memorial service for Wind was held Monday; funeral services took place Tuesday, according to PA News.

Wind leaves behind her husband, children and grandchildren.
