Off-duty Va. FF renders aid after shooting at son’s flag football game

Josh Owens helped his family members to safety before working to control a critically injured person’s blood loss

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Firefighter Josh Owens and his family were cheering for his son Sunday morning at a flag football game at a middle school when two people were shot nearby.

An argument led to gunfire, and two people were critically injured outside Benton Middle School.

Owens rushed his family to safety and returned to the field to render aid.

“While under clear threat of a shooter on the loose, Josh controlled bleeding of a critically injured individual and rushed them to awaiting medic units,” a Prince William Professional Firefighters Facebook post stated.
