FORT MYERS, Fla. — EMS providers were under fire Christmas evening when their ambulance was struck by several bullets.
Officials said the crew was treating a patient in the back of an ambulance when bullets struck the front windshield. The patient, along with the crew members, were not injured, reported the News Press.
Investigators said they do not believe the ambulance or the patient were targeted. Following the incident, the patient was transported to the hospital in a difference ambulance.
The incident is still under investigation.
