COLUMBIA — A collision involving an ambulance and another vehicle that sent the ambulance speeding off the road and over a ravine should serve as a cautionary tale to drivers, said Columbia Fire Captain Eric Hartman.
The collision was called in this afternoon at 1:07 after an ambulance from Scotland County hit another vehicle on Old 63. The ambulance, which had its sirens on, was sent over a ravine. There were no serious injuries, but the driver of the other vehicle was taken to Boone Hospital Center with minor injuries.
The Scotland County ambulance was transporting a gunshot victim to University Hospital for further treatment when it went off the road. No one in the ambulance was injured. The gunshot victim was picked up by a Columbia ambulance and transported to University Hospital, Hartman said.
