CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 10-year-old girl saved her mom’s life when she called 911 after her mom had a seizure.
WCNC reported that Tammy Massey-Hart had experienced seizures in the past, so she spoke with her daughter about calling 911 if it ever happened. When Massey-Hart had a seizure in the shower and slammed her head against the toilet, Zhailah jumped into action.
“I just saw her laying there and I thought she passed out or she was dead,” Zhailah said. “She fell and the curtain was on top of her.”
Zhailah told her 5-year-old niece to call 911 and then she took over and guided EMS to their house.
“The only thing I remember is waking up in the ambulance,” Massey-Hart said. “This was a matter of life or death. I was proud, I was very proud.”
Zhailah received the 911 Hero award from county officials.
“I feel excited and famous,” Zhailah said.
