PHOENIX — First responders rescued eight hikers from Camelback Mountain’s Echo Canyon trail on Thursday, 3TV/CBS 5 reported.
A group of women was participating in a reality TV show called “Bad Girls Gone God” when some suffered heat-related illness.
Phoenix and Scottsdale fire departments and Phoenix police responded.
The hikers were spread out. Members of the Phoenix Fire Department said they used a drone to locate some of the hikers.
“It is a credit to our patients today again knowing some of their limitations. They knew they were beyond where they would be able to get down safely so they set in the shade. They gave us a call, and we were able to get down safely this afternoon,” said Phoenix Fire Captain Evan Gammage.
Crewmembers used a helicopter and a big wheel basket to help five hikers. Firefighters helped the other three walk down the trail.
Three people were transported to a hospital — a 50-year-old woman, a 42-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man. They were reported to be in stable condition.
The Phoenix Fire Department said that the group had inadequate water supplies.
