MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Charlotte triathlete Carson Clough will soon travel to Paris to compete in the 2024 Paralympics after losing his leg in a boating accident on Lake Norman a few years ago.

Before leaving the country to embark on his dream, though, Clough stopped to share his appreciation for his rescuers from Lake Norman Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Norman EMS and Mooresville Fire-Rescue, WCNC reported.

“I can say thank you,” Clough said. “I’m able to do that because of you guys.”

Clough gave the first responders his framed Team USA suit as a reminder that they changed his life that day, and he is forever thankful.
