PHOENIX — Envoy America, a comprehensive ridesharing program that offers accompanied transportation and extra assistance for seniors and patients, announced an agreement with Access2Care, a division of American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR). Houston will be the initial market for the new Envoy America services which began June 6 for Access2Care patients.
Access2Care manages the transportation experience for those receiving a non-emergency medical transportation benefit. This ensures that those in need get the right services, at the right time, from the most appropriate transportation resources, utilizing a large network of contracted and credentialed transportation providers in each service area.
Adding Envoy America effectively creates a new category of transport beyond Access2Care’s current transportation options that include scheduled ambulance transportation, wheelchair/stretcher van transportation and taxis or rideshare services such as Lyft. Instead of the standard curbside service of other transportation companies, Envoy America offers door-to-door service where drivers are companions for their passengers and remain with them until they are back home.
All Envoy America drivers are 50+ years old and provide a helping hand for doctors’ appointments, grocery shopping, social outings and more, just like a son or daughter would with tasks that often become more difficult for seniors or patients. Under the agreement, Access2Care will schedule Envoy America transports for its members as appropriate.
