HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. — Authorities say at least 13 people suffered minor injuries in a crash involving a charter bus and two big rigs on a Los Angeles County freeway.

The California Highway Patrol says initial reports suggest the two big rigs collided Wednesday, and the impact sent one of the trucks into the bus carrying 19 people.

Inspector Randall Wright says several ambulances were dispatched and crews evaluated 23 people. Thirteen were transported to hospitals with minor injuries.

The crash scene was scattered over about 100 yards throughout several lanes. The trucks had substantial damage, and the bus had some front-end damage but remained upright.

Fire officials say the crash occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. on eastbound State Route 60 in Hacienda Heights. Traffic was backed up for several miles as it slogged through two open lanes.
