MILTON, Pa. — As a young emergency medical technician, Cheryl Walter had an experience that changed her life.
It was Super Bowl Sunday, Walter remembered, and she was called to Interstate 80 for a gruesome accident. As she came up on the wrecked car, Walter could see the young man in the car had lost both of his eyes, but was too drunk to feel the pain.
“He didn’t know he was blind,” Walter said. “It was dark.”
