ORIENTAL, N.C. — Members of the community have rallied behind a popular Oriental businessman and paramedic charged with DWI on July 5 while moving a rescue vehicle in response to a near-drowning.
Eric Kindle, 37, the owner of The Bean coffee shop, was arrested about 1 a.m. after the wrap-up to the town’s annual July Fourth Croaker Festival.
According to court documents and the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Department, Kindle was driving an ambulance that struck another vehicle.
