APCO to Dedicate Walk of Heroes In Memory of Kent Kruger

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International will dedicate its “Walk of Heroes” in memory of Kent Kruger at a ceremony at APCO’s international headquarters in Daytona Beach, Fla. on June 26.

Kruger, APCO Wisconsin Chapter Executive Council representative and a fire instructor at Madison Area Technical College for many years, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2005. Prior to his service with the Madison Area Technical College, Kruger was a Dane County Public Safety Communications supervisor for 25 years and a captain with the Town of Madison Volunteer Fire Department for more than 35 years.

“As a long time public servant and APCO member, Kent has contributed to our industry in many important ways,” said APCO President Wanda McCarley. “His loyalty and dedication to public safety will be greatly missed.”

The APCO “Walk of Heroes” is a walkway at the APCO International headquarters made of commemorative bricks that highlight special events, celebrate special times or memorialize friends and colleagues. Kruger took special interest in the “Walk of Heroes,” making its recent renovation one of his final projects with APCO.

The dedication ceremony, featuring presentations from the APCO International Board of Officers, the APCO Wisconsin Chapter, and Kruger’s wife Karen, will take place on June 26 at 3:00p.m. at APCO International headquarters, 351 N. Williamson Blvd., Daytona Beach, Fla.
