NORFOLK, England — Comedian Stephen Fry tweeted his support to a petition that calls for the government to rethink cuts to a U.K. ambulance service Thursday.
“Fellow Norfolkians,” the tweet said, “Do sign the @actonambulances petition to call for improved ambulance response times in N Norfolk,” according to EDP24.
Act on Ambulances (www.actonambulances.co.uk) was set up by the North Norfolk Labour Party after it was revealed that ambulance service there would face cuts, including the removal of one full-time ambulance and full-time status of another .
But Hayden Newton, chief executive of East of England Ambulance Service, said, “Ambulances are not being cut overall but matched to where demand lies.”
