WEXFORD, Pa. — A $235,000 state grant will help the McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority expand its lifesaving equipment, officials said.
The funding, awarded by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, will be used to purchase six CPR devices and a new heart monitor, according to a March 23 announcement from state Rep. Arvind Venkat, who helped secure the grant.

Chief Chris Dell told TribLive that the grant will be used to purchase six LUCAS mechanical chest-compression devices.
“The goal is to have one on each ambulance. It’s better for patients as far as quality and much safer for personnel,” Dell said.
The funding will also allow the ambulance authority to purchase a LIFEPAK 35 heart monitor and defibrillator, which costs about $65,000. Dell said the device is an upgraded version of the agency’s current model and would be the first of seven it hopes to acquire.
The ambulance authority serves Bradford Woods, Franklin Park, McCandless, Marshall and Pine.
