National EMS Memorial Service announces 2011 honorees

43 individuals from 18 states will be honored

National EMS Memorial Service

Colorado Springs, Colo. — The National EMS Memorial Service recently released the names of the 43 responders be honored at the 2011 National EMS Memorial Service on June 25 in Colorado Springs.

Since 1992, the National EMS Memorial Service has been honoring providers who died while on the job. The 43 honoraries will join the 538 others previously honored in years past.

During the memorial service, members of the honoree’s families are given a medallion, which symbolizes eternal memory, a U.S. flag symbolizing service to the country, and a white rose symbolizing undying love.

The 2011 National EMS Memorial Service will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado Springs.

In addition to the presentations made during the Service, each honoree’s name is engraved on a bronze oak leaf which is added to the “Tree of Life,” the National EMS Memorial.

Anthony Archuleta of Southwest Med Evac, Las Cruces, NM, who died in the line of duty on February 5, 2010 of injuries sustained in a medical aviation accident.

Esteban Angel Bahena of San Diego Medical Services, San Diego, CA, who died in the line of duty on April 1, 2010 of injuries sustained when struck at the scene of a call.

James Ray Bailey of McDowell County Emergency Ambulance Authority, Welch, WV, who died in the line of duty on September 8, 2010 of injuries sustained in an ambulance involved motor vehicle collision.

Shawn Baker of MedFlight of Ohio, Wellston, OH, who died in the line of duty on October 19, 2010 of a duty related cardiac event.

Paul Bazinet of Empire Ambulance, Glens Falls, NY, who died in the line of duty on January 3, 2010 of a duty related cardiac event.

Misty Oakley Brogdon of Hospital Wing, Memphis, TN, who died in the line of duty on March 25, 2010 of injuries sustained in a medical aviation accident.

Ted Caffarel of Air Ambulance Stat, Amarillo, TX, who died in the line of duty on July 4, 2010 of injuries sustained in a medical aviation accident.

Tracy Chambers of Air Ambulance Stat, Amarillo, TX, who died in the line of duty on July 4, 2010 of injuries sustained in a medical aviation accident.

William Chapin of Bangs Ambulance, Ithica, NY, who died in the line of duty on March 19, 1986 drowning during a swift water rescue attempt.

Guy del Giudice of CareFlite, Grand Prairie, TX, who died in the line of duty on June 2, 2010 of injuries sustained in a medical aviation accident.
