LAS VEGAS — The Code Green Campaign has been chosen as Ferno‘s philanthropic partner during EMS World Expo 2015.
Ferno is donating $1,000 to the Code Green Campaign and is giving away Code Green Campaign t-shirts to the first 500 people who visit Ferno Booth #1111 at EMS World Expo.
The Code Green Campaign raises mental health awareness of first responders and educates responders on how to provide care for themselves and recognize struggles among their peers.
“Mental health awareness is important to the EMS industry and all first responders because the rates of mental health problems and suicide are so high, on par with that of active duty military,” said Ann Farina, Code Green Campaign president. “Ferno’s support is allowing us to reach thousands of people we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to reach.”
Ferno is a global leader in pre-hospital emergency care solutions serving emergency services, including EMS, fire rescue, mortuary, industrial safety and police. “Having the support of a broad range of companies, like Ferno, is so critical to getting our message out there,” Farina said.
According to The Code Green Campaign, approximately 15-20 percent of firefighters and EMS personnel suffer from PTSD. So far this year, there have been 81 documented first responder deaths by suicide, about one every 2.5 days.
