2 medics injured after distracted driver hits ambulance

The distracted driver said he turned his head away from the road because he thought he saw someone he knew outside

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Two Ind. medics were injured after a distracted driver drove into their ambulance Sunday night.

Michael W. Burris, 27, was driving his truck when he looked away from the road because he saw someone he knew at a gas station and drifted into oncoming traffic, according to the Courier Press.

Burris struck the ambulance with so much force it overturned. No patients were on board at the time.

Tammi Pincus, who was driving the ambulance, suffered several cuts to her arms and complained of knee pain. Brian Holcomb, riding in the front seat, badly hurt his hand.

After being treated for his injuries, Burris was arrested and placed in county jail
