MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — An ambulance was involved in a head-on collision after leaving a fire scene Wednesday morning.

WPXI reported that the ambulance was transporting an injured police officer from the scene of the duplex fire at 9:30 a.m. when it was struck by a tow truck.

The NorthWest EMS ambulance, which was going up a hill, was hit by the tow truck coming down the hill. The tow truck, which failed to negotiate the turn, swerved into the oncoming lane.

George Dudash III, executive director at NorthWest EMS, told the Post-Gazette that no one was seriously injured in the crash. The ambulance, however, was totaled.

The duplex was unoccupied at the time of the fire, which started on the first floor.
