ANGLETON, Texas — Kaylene White was only at the apartment complex because of a mixed-up delivery order, but the little mistake that put her there may have saved a woman’s life.

White was taking a pizza to an apartment complex in Angleton, Texas when she saw a commotion nearby. A woman across the street was yelling for help, saying that her mother was “bleeding to death.”

She entered the scene, and saw that a woman had suffered an in-home accident and couldn’t stop the bleeding.

White, who said she’s worked in medical offices before, grabbed a towel and applied direct pressure to stop the wound from bleeding. When it didn’t, she wrapped the towel around the injury in a knot.

By the time medical responders arrived, they found that White had successfully controlled the bleeding.

“It was a gruesome scene, honestly. I’ve seen crime scenes less bloody,” said one of the medics who responded to the call.

Angleton Area Emergency Medical Corps was so grateful for White’s intervention that they stopped by Domino’s pizza to personally thank her and tell her manager what she did.

“She was moved to tears to know what she did helped so much. Without her intervention the situation could have rapidly become dire,” wrote a representative of AAEMC.
