ATLANTA, Ga. — Atlanta police say two people were shot blocks away from the Georgia Dome on the Falcons’ first home game day of the regular season and are hospitalized in stable condition.
Department spokesman John Chafee says a man was shot in the leg and a woman was shot in the arm Sunday afternoon.
Chafee says the shooting happened on Northside Drive near Markham Street, about three blocks south of the Georgia Dome, where thousands gathered to watch the Falcons play the St. Louis Rams.
Tailgaters were gathered around the dome Sunday, but police say they aren’t sure whether the victims were fans.
Police say a call on the shooting came in at 12:35 p.m. Kickoff was at 1 p.m.
