ATLANTA — Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Atlanta Fire Chief Rod Smith and others attended a groundbreaking Thursday for the city’s first Emergency Medical Services micro station.
The station is being built on city-owned property on the Southside. The goal is to reduce EMS response times. The mayor’s office announced the construction plan in May.
Atlanta Fire Chief Rod Smith said at the ceremony that most of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department calls are EMS-related.
