VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man trying to catch his stray dog became stuck in the mud adjacent to a canal and police and rescue units spent the better part of the afternoon trying to get him unstuck.
According to Brigade Chief Lewis from Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Services, this all started shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday morning. A man was out walking his dog on a trail when the dog got away. The man chased the dog into a heavily overgrown area and eventually became stuck in the mud and couldn’t extract himself.
V.B.P.D. Marine Patrol and V.B. EMS units were dispatched and began rescue operations at around 11:55. Marine patrol officers eventually reached the man, but were initially unable to free him.
