UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — David Massey, 59, and his 12-year-old nephew Najee Clark drowned this afternoon in a neighbor’s pool in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Police say that at around 2:30PM, firefighters and paramedics from the Upper Marlboro area responded to a possible drowning at a private pool on the 9200 block of Faithhaven Avenue.
When they arrived, EMS say they found both the uncle and his nephew in the pool and that neither one was breathing. Paramedics performed CPR and both victims were transported to a hospital where they later died.
Poilice say that the preliminary investigation indicates that Najee Clark had climbed over a fence to sneak into the neighbor’s pool. The boy’s uncle, police say, apparently tried to rescue him and they both drowned.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
