WASHINGTON — The audio, which can be heard below, is the D.C. Fire and EMS department radio traffic from the shooting rampage Monday at the Washington Navy Yard. It begins at approximately 8:35 a.m. — about 20 minutes after the shootings started.
The deadly attack was carried out by 34-year-old Aaron Alexis, a defense contract employee and former Navy reservist, who used a valid pass to get onto the installation and started firing inside a building, according to AP reports. Alexis killed 12 people before he was slain in a gun battle with police.
