NORWOOD, Pa. — Friends of Steve Cheezum, a man who has committed his life to helping others, have organized a benefit to help him as he continues a months-long battle with a rare form of lymphoma.

Cheezum, a career EMT with the Norwood Fire Co., a volunteer fire captain with the Vauclain Fire Co. in Ridley Township and a volunteer firefighter with Cardington-Stonehurst Fire Co. in Upper Darby, has been unable to work since his diagnosis. Though he is nearing the end of treatments, he has months of rehabilitation before he can return to duty.

The benefit will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at Tom and Jerry’s Sports Bar, 1006 MacDade Blvd., Ridley Township. Tickets are $25 per person and include buffet, soft drinks and select draft beer.
