You never know what’s going to come at you when you respond to a call. It can be something serious, something minor, or something just plain weird.
We asked our Facebook fans earlier, what the weirdest or funniest thing that’s ever happened on a call, and here are some of your top answers!
1. The patient really believed he was a “special agent” and was “flying” to Japan and wanted to know how long the flight would be. After trying to reason with him, he wouldn’t give in so I told him the flight would only be 30 minutes. He retorted that that was impossible, so I explained that he was actually in Russia and we had adopted English as a primary language. Fascinated, he began cooperating. As I drove, we hit a large dip in the road and he exclaimed, “What the hell was that?!” My partner and I, in unison, replied, “Turbulance!” “Oh! Ok!” - Karl Neidigh
2. I had a Psych. patient take my soul once. I nicely asked for it back. - Tom W. Amey\
3. Responded to a call for someone intoxicated who said their head was leaking…It ended up being a head laceration with an arterial bleed! But you can imagine what we were thinking on the way there. - Rob Ferland
4. I hit my head on the latch at the back door and knocked myself out briefly. The best part was when my patient on board asked me if I needed her help! My partner was laughing so hard he could barely help me. - Pamela Bielby
5. Well, I did a mutual aid call for a dislocated hip and upon asking questions, she told me that she dislocated it from having sex. - Brian Levy
