When you’re faced with a patient emergency, you want to be as prepared as you possibly can be. Training manikins can be expensive and you might not always have access to one at your agency.
Video simulation training is the next best thing, but finding a cost-efficient solution can be a challenge.

The system even captures the diagnostics monitor from the dummy so you can see their blood pressure, heart beat and other vital signs. When you play back the video, you can review what the vital signs were at different stages in the treatment.
“You can see exactly what happened, how you or the responders in the tape handled the situation, what went well and what you could have done differently,” NeVille said.
Once permission is granted, the footage can be accessed anywhere there’s Internet with just a password.
“With other systems you need a DVD burner and a DVR—with our system you don’t need anything like that. The video stored on the server is immediately available online,” NeVille said.
He said that just three years ago, a system like this could easily cost $200,000 dollars and wouldn’t have equal capability. Now with the power of computers and the advancement of technology, a system like this with multiple cameras and multiple wireless microphones costs just around $17,000.
“Most every hospital and university that teaches medicine is investing in this type of technology and now it’s making it’s way to the EMS world and pre hospital care,” NeVille said. “Now people can practice events, see how they did and learn how to get even better.”
