SEATTLE — Medics were chased by a man with a folding knife who tried to enter their ambulance as they were treating a patient with chest pains in Pioneer Square Friday night.
They were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. to the intersection of Second Avenue and Main Street Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Sue Stangl told the Seattle Times.
As they were with the patient, a man began pounding on the back of the unit, saying he wanted to speak to his friend. Officials say he then started waving the knife at medics and tried to climb in when they opened the door.
The medics jumped out of the ambulance, and he began chasing them with the folding knife, according to KOMO News. A Metro bus driver who witnessed the incident helped knock him to the ground. There were no injuries, and the medics were able to continue to care for their patient.
Police were called, and the man was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.
